By car

From Madrid, about 96 km (an hour and a half) on the A-2 to Guadalajara, then towards Humanes and Espinosa on the CM-101. From Guadalajara, about 40 km. From Sigüenza, about 52 km.

By train

Espinosa de Henares has a station on the Madrid-Barcelona line, served by Renfe Media Distancia trains. Check Saturday times at renfe.com, as services are few.

By plane

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport is about 86 km away.

By bus

What to see in the village

  • Bridge over the Henares

    The village’s emblem, built around the second half of the 15th century with five pointed arches and rebuilt in 1921.

  • Church of the Assumption

    Single-nave brick church with Mudéjar-style roof and a large bell gable. The image of Saint Agatha is kept here.

  • Hermitage of La Soledad

    The only survivor of the three that once stood, rebuilt after the Civil War.

  • Palace of the Infantado

    19th century, on the site of the Mendoza family’s old fortified house.

    It is winter on the plateau: dress warmly. You will mostly be walking through streets and squares. If you want to see the staff ceremony, get to the Plaza de España early.
